New UK Trailer For 'The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya'
The Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature was only one of the many honours that have been heaped upon Isao Takahata's The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya. The long-awaited film is the latest (and possibly last) from Studio Ghibli's second best-known director. Ahead of it's release in UK cinemas next month, distributors StudioCanal have released a new trailer.
If you've yet to see Kaguya's beautiful water-colour style animation in motion the new trailer is a brilliant opportunity to check it out. It's certainly not your average Ghibli film, visually at least. It follows the eponymous tiny princess who is found inside a bamboo stalk by a bamboo cutter and his wife. She quickly grows from this tiny form into a beautiful young lady who charms all who meet her. Ultimately though, she must rise to meet her destiny.
The film has met universal praise and our own Dan Hamman says "the film is a testament to Takahata’s mastery and experience". The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya will hit UK cinemas on March 20th 2015, and is available now on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital in North America.
